Respected guitarist and songwriter Robby Krieger has announced his first solo album in ten years. The Ritual Begins At Sundown will be released via The Players Club on 24 April.
This is set to be the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee’s ninth studio album and his first since 2010s Grammy nominated Singularity. Once again he’s working with his partner and co-producer Arthur Barrow who, as well as famously playing bass for Frank Zappa, has worked with Giorgio Moroder, Joe Cocker, Diana Ross and Janet Jackson.
The new album also features other Zappa alumnus; Jock Ellis (Trombone), Sal Marquez (Trumpet), Tommy Mars (Keys), AeB Bryne (Flute), Vince Denim (Saxophone), Chuck Manning (Saxophone), Joel Wackerman (Drums) and Joel Taylor (Drums).
Krieger explained in a press release: “I was hanging out with my buddy Arthur Barrow and we had some songs we had been fooling around with and then we got some other friends involved.”
