Abbey Road Studios announce masterclass series for International Women’s Day
As it does every year, 8 March marks International Women’s Day, and the world famous Abbey Road Studios has come up with the perfect way to celebrate…
In many ways, the world of sound recording has proved inaccessible to women. Though occasionally trailblazers rise above the rest – such as Abbey Road’s Hazel Yarwood, renowned as the doyenne of disc cutting from 1947 to 1985 – the technical and engineering roles in many studios are dominated by men. Even today, just 5% of all audio engineers are female.
With this in mind, Abbey Road Studios is launching ‘Equalise’ – a programme to help inspire and engage more young women in sound production and engineering by providing the basic tools, knowledge and support to help further their careers. The course begins with a free, introductory Music Production Masterclass for young women aged between 16-25, presented in conjunction with the Abbey Road Institute.
The first Music Production Masterclass coincides with International Women’s Day on Sunday 8 March, aiming to act as a stepping stone to entering the industry and give a better understanding of the full music creation process.
The masterclass will take place on 8 March from 2:00pm at Abbey Road Institute. Click here to book your place now.
